Varric was sitting in that hard-ass chair in total darkness for *hours*. Totally worth it.

This page, btw, is actually from that webtoon/insightful anti-capitalist article I keep mentioning but have not published. Yet. I have a LOT of fan service I still need to refine.

I will say I am *particularly* excited about this panel, though:

But that's for tomorrow. Here, today, I have like a bajillion things I've been working on that I want to share.

Should I space these out in different posts and not dump them all in one go because they just overwhelm readers and this is not how you do a WIP post?

Anyway, here's Bel and (?) Emmrich in this sappy comic that's been on the back burner for a while but I really wanna finish:

This is going to be really cute, though, if I do say so myself. Drawing these lil Volkarin Family Headcanon comics has actually been really, genuinely therapeutic for me. With every chubby baby face and proud papa Emmrich I draw, I regain one brain cell.

And then I promptly lose that brain cell with *this* nonsense:

The story here is that, in my DA:TV headcanon, the team do little sparring matches in the courtyard at the Lighthouse. Emmrich asks to spar Atash (my Qunari Mage Rook) and things get... weirdly steamy.

Whether or not I ever finish this depends on how many cute baby comics I draw to balance out the shameless soft-core smut. And also my thesis, I guess. I keep forgetting about that thing. I wonder how it's doing.

Speaking of how one is doing, I'm going to end this with a really EXCITING announcement:

THAT'S RIGHT, I was diagnosed this past week! FINALLY, at the age of 32 and barely able to leave the house, doctors gave a darn and sent me off for tests for which I have been BEGGING throughout the last decade.

I am not joking, though, this is actually an IMMENSE relief and cause for celebration. I've known I have some kind of weird horrible gut thing going on since I started getting really sick all the time at the age of 20. Since then, doctors have put me off by:

Suggesting I "eat healthier"

Suggesting it might just be period cramps

Suggesting it might just be mild allergies

Suggesting it might just be anxiety

Suggesting it might just be hormones

Suggesting that I was too fat to have celiac disease when I brought it up (I gained a LOT of weight during the 2020 lockdown in the UK)

Suggesting that I'm just old (at age 30) and this is 'normal for that age'.

You might notice that ALL of these were suggestions and not, you know, actual declarative diagnoses or even an attempt to reach one. I've had good doctors, don't get me wrong, but holy crap it really sucks to be a woman in any healthcare system.

I consider this part of my WIP Wednesday because this diagnosis was the result of a years-long effort to figure out what was really wrong with me and dammit it deserves recognition SOMEWHERE (besides my medical records).

To anyone struggling with a mystery chronic illness: I love you so much. You have my deepest, sincerest empathy. I know it doesn't help, but it can't hurt to know there's one stranger on the internet rooting for you.

How did Rosemary and Lucanis fall in love?

I personally love the idea that it really was 'love at first sight' but because it's kind of a scary thing esp for crows to be easily swept up in emotions, they chose to keep it to themselves until that spark slowly built into a bigger, unavoidable flame (pantry scene was definitely that unavoidable flame lol)

It's why I really love Spite's reaction to rook in general because it really feels like rook is that first kind and friendly face that they gravitated to and saw as their anchor from the get go.

And specifically for Rosemary, she is very much purple rook and certified yapper so she was definitely an odd one in terms of the crows. Like she's good at being a crow/assassin but she's also a talkative, jokey and bright laughter type of person. To him, she gives off the vibe of a morning coffee, a little pick-me-up that helps start his day.

Also Viago def told her when she was younger to stay away from the Dellamortes but just one look at Lucanis in the Ossuary and she was like "All right, bet. I'm going to take every chance I can get to talk to him even if I have to visit him everyday in the pantry and dining hall when he can't sleep. :)" She never saw him as this imposing figure, the grandson of the First Talon or Demon of Vyrantium, but rather just Lucanis who she could velcro herself to.

And rather than Lucanis becoming upset or annoyed with her, he found himself actually enjoying her company and sometimes hoping she would show up (The whole "your voice is a comfort"). Just late night chats over coffee and hot chocolate, exchanging stories and banter. Just two crows who slowly kept adding metaphorical twigs and trinkets into their little nest. ;)

Anyway posting my entry. Have a little platonic Taash and Rook helping each other out with their LI's. I HC this is why that scene with Taash and Davrin happened 🙈

“Alright if I help you with this then you will help me with Lace?” The muscles of Taash's arms flexed as they crossed them over their chest.

“Like you need any help with Harding,” Rook snorted as she rolled her eyes at the Qunari.

“I could say the same for you and Davrin,” Taash accused as the small elf's cheeks blushed pink. “Anyone can see he's totally into you.”

“Whatever,” Rook let out a huff that betrayed more of her doubt than she would have liked. Sure Davrin talked to her. Went on every mission with her. Smiled in that annoying infectious way. But that didn't mean anything. Lucanis did the same to Neve and there was clearly nothing going on there.

“Hey,” Taash called with that blunt way they had about them. The one that gave Rook the confidence to approach them about their crush over all their other companions. “You shouldn't doubt yourself so much. You're way cooler than you realize.”

Rook grinned at those words, ears wiggling slightly before she swung a small hand and punched the solid mass of Qunari muscle playfully in the shoulder. A good natured chuckle followed her motion before she spoke, “Thanks Taash. For everything.”

“Don't mention it,” they replied with a shrug. “Just make sure you get Harding and meet me in the training yard in an hour. It's time to put our plan into action.”

“You bet,” Rook said as she bounced off towards the greenhouse. Feeling lighter than she had in weeks after talking her feelings out with Taash.

Dragon Age 100 | Prompt List

Ya'll, I can't do anything casually. But I decided that anytime I don't write dedicated fiction that I would write for one of these prompts. I was just gonna do like, 100 words, so naturally I wrote 669 (lol 69)

Prompt 1 with minimal editing

Beginning

"Fine. You win" Veryl knocked her queen over on the board, signaling her acceptance of defeat and seeking a quick end to the match. The smug, cheating bastard across from her ignore the hand she extended in sportsmanship and stood, leaning across the table into her space. "I know what I want as my prize," he hissed into her ear. Veryl leaned back into her chair, eyeing the mans full face and admittedly good looks. Perhaps if it had been another time or another place… or even if it had been the other night when she felt worse about herself. Tonight was just, not his night. With no desire to toy with his posturing or even indulge in whatever foreplay he was trying to instigate, she rose from her chair, forcing him back across the table. "Maker, get some mint." She pushed past him when he tried to stand in front of her, lobbing the insult to put him off the idea of the state of undress she was sure he pictured her in. "Sore winners aren't my type." He caught her arm as she passed, pulling her into his chest, separating her from the rest of the pub. "I'm sure I can figure out what you like." "Oh?" Veryl returned the coy tone the man was so desperately seeking from her. When a fleeting look of surprise and then pleasure darken his features, she continued, "That doesn't seem like your area of expertise. Thanks, but no thanks." Somehow, the pleasure he derived from this interaction seemed heightened as he tightened the hand on her arm, "I wasn't asking." There was a clanking and loading sound that came from behind his back and he was suddenly pressed forward further into her, caught in surprise. "I think you'll find the lady more than capable of deciding what a question is and what it isn't." The gravely voice interrupted her captor's advance, making him turn his head to survey what was now accosting him. Veryl wasted no time in using the distraction to get a handle on the man in front of her, relishing the way it felt to literally grip his balls in her free hand. When his startled face swung back around to assess the sudden pressure that had all of the color draining from his complexion, she gave him a slow smirk. "It's been fun, enjoy the floor." With a quick increase in strength and a downward yank on the free swinging vulnerability, the man was down in seconds howling into the floorboards. He was cupping his abused extremities and rolling about as Veryl poured the rest of the vodka from her glass over her hand to sanitize and add insult to injury to her less that formidable opponent. Unfortunately, it didn't make the fleshy feeling of ballsack on her hand go away, but it was a start. "I figured you had it handle." With a sigh and shake of his head, the dwarf collapsed his crossbow as he assessed her, a smirk that quickly evolved into a grin overtaking his specific features. "Varric Tethras," He extended his free hand to her in greeting. Veryl raised an eyebrow, eyeing his hand skeptically before finally deciding to accept it and introduce herself in kind. In order to do so, she planted a boot solidly on the back of the man the writhed below her, collapsing him to the ground further. Her next step crushed his fingers where they splayed out on the wood. This set the human version of a howler spirit to bellowing again. Veryl cast him an annoyed look before realizing where she was standing and removing her foot, "Gracious, people are talking here." She toed the purplish looking hand out of the way as the man curled into himself and started weeping. Veryl shrugged, and turned back to the man in front of her, who merely looked amused by her antics. She met his out-stretched hand with a clap from her own. "Veryl Ingellvar, Mourn-" She caught herself on the casually automatic introduction as she dropped his hand and placed her hands on her hips. "Actually, it's just Veryl."

Junior Grey Warden Jerran Thorne

Jerran is typically an easy-going guy who deflects with humor. Some of it is due to his nature, and some of it is a defensive mechanism -- it's much easier to be the snarky one in the group and keep people at a distance.

But when he gets angry, he is ready to raze Thedas to the ground and burn all of his bridges. He "voluntarily" took leave from the Wardens with two middle fingers pointed straight up at the First Warden.

What angers him?

Nothing angers him more than senseless sacrifice due to stupidity and incompetence. He knows that sometimes you have to make shitty decisions where there is no good solution. People may end up getting hurt no matter what you choose.

But when corruption and inept leadership cause deaths that could have been prevented, Jerran goes absolutely beserk.

Pre-Veilguard, he lost his fiancée Kyra, a fellow Grey Warden, due to her Senior Warden's cowardice and poor planning. Her death later led him to disobey orders and dropping a Sacred Andraste Shrine to save a village.

Innocent people getting hurt is another instance that angers Jerran, although to a slightly lesser degree. He can channel that anger and focus it towards the goal of stopping the threat.

Signs of anger

Jerran usually speaks in a breezy, fairly playful tone of voice with a lazy grin. In extremely casual settings, he'll swear, tell bad jokes, and do banter.

When furious, he'll drop the act and flatten his tone with clipped and aggressive speech. Whoever is dealing with him will need to tread carefully, or they might find themselves on the floor with a broken nose.
